SUBMISSION GUIDELINES HOUSE STYLE
We welcome unsolicited manuscripts and proposals submitted by post or e-mail. However, please note that we do not accept e-mail attachments larger than 4 MB.
- Please submit an outline of the whole work as well as the first three chapters.
- Please also send some information about yourself.
- Please enclose your contact details, including your postal address, an email address and a daytime contact number.
Your book will be considered by our editorial team and we aim to contact everyone who submits a proposal within 6-8 weeks.
CONTRACT Once you have received a contract from Book Republic, we would be grateful if you would read the following notes, which will help to avoid any problems or inaccuracies in transferring your manuscript into book form.
MANUSCRIPTS
- Use A4 paper.
- Type on one side of the page only, in double line spacing.
- Start each chapter on a new page, and leave at least 1.5 inch margins on both sides of the page.
- Number the pages consecutively from 1 onwards.
DISCS It is very important that you provide us with a hard copy (i.e. a printout) which is identical to the electronic version. All editorial work is done on the hard copy. We prefer work produced on Microsoft Word and saved on CD-RW discs. If you are using a different programme, please contact us for clarification.
ILLUSTRATIONS If you have been asked to supply illustrations please ensure that these are numbered, captioned and that the manuscript is marked to show where the pictures are to be inserted. Captions should give the name of the photographer/illustrator or the copyright holder. Please ensure you have obtained copyright permissions to use any images which you submit to us.
PROOFS Once your proofs arrive, please make any corrections clearly and remember, though it may be tempting to rewrite certain sections, changes other than typesetters' errors are expensive to make. We would be grateful if you could also supply us with a short description (200-250 words) of your book, which we can use for catalogue information and the book jacket, and a photograph of yourself.
